Higher Ed Attracts Students with Distance Education

Texas colleges and universities are taking advantage of the Internet, e-mail and instant messaging to offer distance learning programs to meet student needs.

Angelo State University offers a distance learning nursing programs so nursing students can earn R.N. degrees via online classes while in the workforce.

The Virtual College of Texas offers more than 1,200 virtual courses. Roughly 27,000 community college students have participated in the virtual college since its inception, with 6,700 enrolled in 2006.
