Congratulations to our October Featured Faculty, Mandi Urban(Humanties)
Mandi teaches Critical Thinking (HUM 127) using an 11-step questioning approach to get students thinking critically about a person's argument. Each week, she and her students factually discuss what's been happening with the election, and then engage in a discussion about those happenings using our critical thinking "step of the week." She notes, “What I like about these types of political discussions is that the students immediately see that they are having trouble remaining critical, but keep struggling to do so, which is my ultimate goal teaching this course.”
To read more of Mandi's response, as well as all the other faculty members' descriptions of how they integrate politics in the classroom, please visit our Featured Faculty Blog . |
