Other CLC Foundation Awards
In addition
to its award programs, the Foundation also offers more than 60 individual
awards. The majority of these are offered during the fall term. Check
the scholarship information board (outside the Admisssions Office, Room
B101) to learn which ones are currently available. (GPAs - grade point
averages - specified are the minimum required.)
AAUW (American Association of University Women) "She's Returning
to Learning": $300 for a mature (30+) female sophomore student
with a 3.0 GPA Enrolled in one (3hrs.) or more courses working towards
a BA/BS degree. Must be Lake County resident. Award may be used for tuition,
fees, books or childcare. Successful applicant will recieve an AAUW affiliate
membership for one year.
Alumni Relative: 2 awards will be given each semester for tuition
and/or books. Students are required to be enrolled in minimum of six credit
hours with a 2.5 GPA. Applicants must be relatives of CLC Alumni who are
in good standing with the association.
Barrington Area Professional Women: Up to $2,000 (amounts vary)
for tuition and fees for women who live or work in the Barrington area.
Helen A. Bartels Memorial: $2000 ($1000/semester) for full time,
$1000 ($500/semester) for part time, to assist an older (35+) female to
advance her learning and self-development. Monies can be used towards
tuition, fees and books. Women who have recently completed their GED are
encouraged to apply.
Douglas M. Beitel: $500 for tuition and other related educational
expenses for a student pursuing a degree in Architecture, Building Construction,
CAD, Civil Technology, Drafting, Mechanical Design, or Computer Numerical
Control. Eligible applicants have a 2.5 GPA.
Chicago BEST CLC: 2 awards at $500 each for tuition and other
related educational expenses for students in the Engineering, Science
and Technology field. Applicants must be full-time college freshman with
a 2.0 GPA.
Black Student Union Golden Gem Heritage: $250 awarded in spring
term to an African-American second semester freshman with a 2.5 GPA. Award
can be used for tuition, fees and/or books. Student should be enrolled
in at least 12 credit hours.
Bretzlauf Foundation Corporation: $1000 ($500/semester) for a
freshman student enrolled full time in business administration courses.
Eligible students mustbe Lake County residents. May be used for tuition,
fees and/or books. Minimum 3.0 GPA is required.
Marge Burns Memorial: $250 for tuition and lab fees associated
with the U.S. field studies trips. Eligible applicants must be Lake County
residents who are pursuing a degree at CLC, and enrolled at least half-time
with a 2.5 GPA.
Jackie Dungan Memorial: $500 semester - available for four semesters
to a returning adult freshman who has completed GED, ESL, ADE or skill
enhancement classes. May be enrolled half-time or less. The award, based
on merit, may be used for tuition, fees and/or books.
The Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts: One award
at $350 for tuition and other related educational expenses for a student
enrolled at least half-time in Fire Science courses. Applicants must be
Illinois residents and provide proof of firefighter eligibility.
Elliot W. Frank: $1500 ($750/semester) for a freshman pursuing
an accounting degreefor a career in banking or finance. Must be full-time
with a 2.5 GPA. Award pays tuition and fees; may be continued after freshman
year if student has a 3.0 GPA.
Michael E. Heagney Memorial: $500 awarded to a full-time sophomore
student in the Food Service Program for tuition, fees and/or books. Must
be a Lake County resident. Minimum 2.5 GPA is required.
Heritage Dance: $500 awarded to a performing arts student to be
used for tuition, fees, and books. Students must be enrolled in at least
6 credit hours with a 2.0 GPA.
Hillman Fine Arts: $500 for a full-time sophomore student with
a 2.75 GPA pursuing a degree in fine arts. May be used for tuition, fees,
books and/or art supplies.
Hinkley: $200 towards tuition and fees for Lake County resident
with a 2.5 GPA. Student should be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
Fred Jackson - Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Morning Rotary: Up to $3,500
(amounts vary) for tuition and other related educational expenses for
Lake County residents who have an employment arrangement with a business,
not-for-profit organization or government agency within Lake County.
Kenneth Hubbard Memorial: $500 available in the fall and in the
spring term for a Lake County resisdent pursuing a degree or certificate
in a 2-year program. Award pays tuition, fees, and/or books. Award will
be based on student's need and the completion of at least 12 credit hours
with a 2.5 GPA Student. Must be currently enrolled in at least least 6
credit hours.
Illinois Health Improvement Association: $2000 ($1000/semester)
awarded for tuition, fees and books to a student interested in a career
in the health care field. Student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit
hours and have a 2.5 GPA.
Infantino-Percak Family Memorial: $500 for a foreign-born student's
tuition, fees and/or books. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
with a 2.0 GPA.
Robert C. Janunas Memorial: $250 to assist a physically challenged
student with his/her education. Student must be enrolled in at least 6
credit hours with a 3.0 GPA.
Justinian Society of Lake County: $500 for tuition for a student
of Italian-American heritage interested in pursuing a legal career. Students
must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours with a 3.0 GPA.
Dolly Kondziela Memorial: $250 awarded towards a a full-time student's
tuition and fees. High school graduates with a 3.0 GPA interested in a
career in the Business field should apply.
Lake County Farm Bureau Walter Krumrey Memorial: $500 for tuition
and fees to a full-time student with a 3.0 GPA. Applicants must be members
of the Lake County Farm Bureau.
Lake County Health Improvement Association: $1000 towards student's
tuition, fees and books. Student must be preparing for a health-oriented
career such as Nursing. Must be Illinois resident who will practice in
the state, but not in Chicago. Student may be part time, but preference
will be given to full-time. Applicants with a 2.0 GPA are required.
Lake County League of Savings Association Business/Financial Management:
$500 to assist a student enrolled in business management working towards
a career in finance. Student must be enrolled at least half-time with
15 credit hours or more completed. Funds may be used for tuition, fees
and/or books.
Libertyville Rotary Club: Up to $2500 a year (2 semesters) to
assist a graduating senior of Libertyville High School District #128,
which including Carmel High School, who resides in Libertyville. Award
will pay for tuition, fees and books. Must be enrolled full-time with
a 3.0 GPA.
Irl H. & Marjorie Marshall: 4 scholarships at $1000 ($500/semester)
for tuition, fees and books. Past and current community involvement by
student is required. Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours or more with a
2.0 GPA.
Stuart Mekemson - Horticulture: $300 for tuition and fees to assist
a second-year student (30 or more credits) who has demonstrated ability
and made a commitment to the field of horticulture. 3.0 GPA is required.
Peter Meyer Memorial Art: $100 for tuition and other related
educational expenses for a student pursuing a degree in Art.
Bill & Sue Morris: Up to $1000 (amount varies) for tuition,
fees and books for a full-time student with a 2.0 GPA. Student must be
a city of Waukegan resident. Preference will be given to students interested
in the political science field.
Mundelein Woman's Club: $250 per year for tuition, fees and/or
books to assist a Mundelein student who is a graduate of Mundelein, Carmel,
or Stevensen High School. Must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours with
a 2.5 GPA.
North Shore Rods, Inc.: Six $500 awards to students in the automotive
technology program. Award to be used towards tuition and fees. Student
should have a 2.0 GPA.
Northern IL Conservation Club: $500 to a full-time freshman student
with a 2.0 GPA. Award may be used towards tuition, fees and books. Student
must be Lake County resident. No specific degree or program of study required;
however, student should have an interest in nature, such as horticulture
or ecology.
Vicki Opeka Memorial: $1200 ($600/semester) towards a full-time
female student's tuition, fees, and/or books. 2.0 GPA is required.
Pickus Construction Education: $2000 ($1000/semester) for tuition,
fees and books for a full-time sophomore student (29 credit hours completed)
with a 3.0 GPA. Must be in the Building Construction Technology Program
or a related area such as engineering, CAD or architecture.
Prep II: $500 for tuition and fees for a Lake County student
to further his/her education, preferably in the Human Services field.
Student shuold be full-time and have a 3.0 GPA. Recent high school grad
with no college credit is desired. Statement of financial need required.
Gene Redding Memorial: 4 awards at $300 each for books, balance
may be used for tuition. Awarded to 2 students in the Criminal Justice
Program and 2 students in the Nursing Program. Must be enrolled in at
least 6 credit hours with a 2.5 GPA.
Barbara Richardson (funded by the Lake County Women's Coalition):
Up to $1000 will be awarded to help defray the educational costs for
a female student over age 30 to pursue a degree. Eligible applicants must
be Lake County residents and have a 2.5 GPA.
Julian J. Rogan: $1000 ($500/semester) towards an independent
student's tuition and fees. Must be full-time with a 2.5 GPA.
Keith Ryan: $1000 ($500/semester) for a student pursuing a career
in communications, either print or broadcast media. Must be a Lake County
high school graduate and resident. Award pays tuition, fees and/or books;
2.0 GPA required.
M.R. Schroeder/Lakeland Newspapers Journalism: Full tuition, fees
and books for one year for a Lake County resident who has completed one
year of college study (30 credit hours) and intends to pursue a career
in print journalism. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.
Shawall Temple #165 Prince Hall Shriners Eddie Jack Worship: $500
awarded towards tuition and fees to a full-time African-American student
in the Human Services Program (HUS/HUX courses). 2.5 GPA required. Students
must reside in Waukegan, North Chicago, or Zion.
John Simcic Educational Foundation: 2 awards ($1500/$750 semester
full-time; $750/$375 part-time) for Lake County students with an interest
in the building construction, architectual technology or real estate management
field with an interest in sports. Full-time students preferred, but student
may be half-time. Award can be used for tuition, fees and/or books. 3.0
GPA required.
Town and Country Garden Club of Libertyville: $500 towards the
education of a Horticulture or Environmental Sttudies student. Applied
to tuition and fees. Student should be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
with a 3.0 GPA. Applicants must be Lake County residents.
Fred G. Wacker, Jr.: $2000 scholarship for tuition, fees and books
awarded to a female student in the machine tool trades field (CNC certificate
or Associates degree). Student should be enrolled in at least 6 credit
hours and have a 2.0 GPA.
Randolph (Dan) Webster Academic Athletic: Books and lab fees,
not to exceed $675 a year, for a full-time sophomore demonstrating academic
(3.0 GPA) and athletic excellence. Must be Lake County resident.
The Elizabeth Wertke HCELUCI: $500 for tuition and other related
educational expenses for a female student pursuing a degree in Business.
Applicants must be Lake County residents who are enrolled at least half-time
with a 2.5 GPA.
Dr. Ernestine Huffman-White: Three $500 scholarships for tuition,
fees and/or books for African-American students accepted into CLC's Nursing
Program. Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours or more with a 2.0 GPA. Students
must be Lake County residents.
Automotive: Five $100 scholarships for the summer term for students
in Aut.171/Aut.172. Scholarships may also be available during the fall
& spring semesters. Contact Automotive Department for further information.
Cancer Federation Biology: Amount/number of awards varies up to
$1000. Award will be made by the Biological & Health Sciences Division.
ESL (English as a Second Language): Amount varies; awarded in
May by the Community Education and Economic Development Department's Adult
Education to students who have studied ESL during the previous 12 months.
GED: Amount varies; awarded in May by the Community Education
and Economic Development Department's Adult Education to students who
are GED graduates. Minimum enrollment is one 3-hour credit course.
Lynelle Krueger: $200 awarded to a second-semester freshman student
in the Medical Technology Program who is enrolled in 10 hours of the program's
courses including MLT-112. Awarded by the Medical Lab Technology Department
faculty.
Learning to Lead (Kerr Foundation): 10 Awards of $700 for tuition/$50
for books for full-time Hispanic Students residing in Lake County (Part-time:
$350 tuition, $50 books). Minimum 2.5 GPA is required. Students must attend
4-5 workshops and agree to work up to 10 hours per month (Stipend is paid).
Applications are available at the Financial Aid Office, Graylake &
Lakeshore Campuses and Southlake Educational Center. Scholarships will
be awarded by the Program Coordinator at the Southlake Educational Center.
Long Grove Rotary International Education: $500 will be awarded
to help defray a student's expenses for study abroad. May be used for
tuition, fees, books or any other expenses. Scholarship will be based
on academic achievement (3.5 GPA or better) and financial need. The college's
International Education Department faculty awards.
Samual Lopez: 3 or more scholarships ($200-$650). Scholarships
are to assist Lake County Hispanic/Latinos to continue their higher education.
Students enrolled in ESL classes, GED graduates, and graduating high school
seniors are eligible to apply. Scholarships can be used for tuition, fees
and/or books. Awarded by CLC's Latino Club.
R.N. of Tomorrow Nursing: Amount varies from $250 to $500. Applicant
must be enrolled at least 6 credit hours in the Associate Degree Nursing
Program with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Scholarships may be used for any educational
need. Awarded by Nursing Education faculty.
Antionia Salazar: Amount/number of awards varies. For minority
students' tuition, fees and/or books. Preference will be given to students
who have contributed to the understanding of the Latin Culture. Must be
enrolled in 6 or more credit hours and have a 2.0 GPA. Faculty in the
Foreign Language Department, Communication Arts Division, awards scholarship.
Richard E. & Nedra K. Soller Forensics: $2000 ($1000 semester)
for tuition and fees for a full-time student participating in the intercollegiate
forensics competition. Minimum 2.0 GPA required. More than one scholarship
may be awarded depending on the availablility of funds. Faculty in the
Speech Deaprtment, Communication Arts Division, will award.
Peter Staben Memorial: $300 for tuition, fees and books for a
student or former student of English as a Second Language who has demonstrated
outstanding writing ability in his/her new language. Awarded by the Community
Education and Economic Development Department's Adult Education faculty.
Marcia Sunderland Preschool: Amount varies. Awarded in the spring
to a student in the Human Services Preschool program for tuition, fees
or books. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours. Completion of 10
hours at CLC with a 2.5 GPA is required. Scholarship is awarded by the
Social Science Division's Human Services faculty.
Thomas Technology: Awarded in May to a student towards the purchase
of technology, such as a computer. Award will be based on faculty/student
nominations. Faculty in the Communication Arts Division will award.
Ziembo/Cook Art Award: Amount varies. Awarded to an art transfer
student to continue study at a 4 year institution. Art Department, Communication
Arts Division, will award.
