Welcome to the

Library Technical Assistant Program
Library Technical Assistants (LTAs) are a vital part of the library team. With their education and training in the organization and management of information and resources, LTAs assist librarians in working directly with patrons and working behind the scenes to acquire, organize and prepare materials for use.

LTAs work in all types of libraries:
- public
- school
- academic
- special
Typical duties in public service area of libraries include:
- assisting patrons in finding materials and basic information
- charging materials in and out
- planning programs
- teaching computer skills to library patrons
Typcial duties behind the scenes include:
- processing of interlibrary loans
- acquiring and processing new library materials
- assisting with basic cataloging functions
- performing library inventory
- supervising other staff members

Register Now for Spring 2008 Classes!
LTA 121, Introduction to Library Science, and LTA 250, Children's Library Services, will be offered on Wednesday. LTA 232, Reference and InformationServices will be offered on Monday. LTA 274, Workplace and Supervisory Skills for the LTA, will be offered on Thursday.
