Printing @ the Library

Students start every semester with 250 free prints ($25.00 value). It is 10˘ per page and 20˘ for duplex (double-sided). Note: Non-student patrons wishing to print will have to go to the First Floor Circulation Desk to get a temporary log in as well as Print Cards.

How To Print

  1. Log In to a computer
First, you must log into the computer systems using your Blackboard/MyCLCID username and password.
Note: Always be sure to Log Out!!!

  2. Submit your document for printing
Print your document in the same way you normally would. You will no longer be prompted for your username at your computer, but a screen may appear giving you the cost of your prints.
Note: Save your work and make sure the print goes through before closing and logging out.

  3. Go to the release station and log in
When you are ready to retrieve your documents, go to the release station located next to the printers. Log in with your BlackBoard/MyCLCID username you used to log in to the computer with.

  4. Select and Print your document(s)
All of the documents you have chosen to print in the last two hours will be displayed on the release station. Make sure to check the documents for accuracy- Is it the right number of pages? Did you try to print something multiple times? Etc.
    • Check the box next to one or more documents to send them to the printer
    • Click the Print Button

  5. Swipe your Print Card or input your 7-digit CLC ID Number
You’re card balance and charges made to it during this print session will be shown, and it will also prompt you to either swipe you Print Card or type in your seven digit CLC ID number.
    • Insert ID number or swipe card and select OK
    • Collect document(s) from printing tray

Printing F.A.Q

  • How does the system work? Instead of sending your print jobs directly to the printer, the print management system sends your document to a server and stores it there. You use a special computer, called a release station, to connect to the server where your documents are stored and send them to the printer. The release station computer is located next to the printers in the lab. This added step will allow you to make sure you know exactly what you are printing before the document prints. It will also allow you to make one trip to the printer instead of several during your stay in the lab.

  • What is a release station? A release station is a computer located next to the printers that you use to ‘OK’ your documents before they print. You can send several prints to the release station throughout your stay in the library, then stop by the release station on your way out to print all of your documents at once.

  • Is there a charge for printing? Students start every semester with 250 free prints ($25.00 in their printing account). The cost to print is 10˘ per page and 20˘ for duplex (double-sided). Each time you print the cost is deducted from your free print balance, when the account reaches 0 you will need to purchase a print card to continue printing. Note: Non-student patrons wishing to print will have to go to the First Floor Circulation Desk to get a temporary log in as well as Print Cards.

  • How long will my print jobs stay in the system? Print jobs stay in the system for two hours. If you have not printed your documents in that time they will be deleted from the print station.

  • Do I have to print out one document at a time? No, to save trips to the release station you should submit several documents to the printer and then print them all at once. TIP: If you use the same ID for all of the documents you print during your session it will be easier to locate them when you log into the release station.

  • How do I print more than one page per sheet in Adobe PDF documents? See our guide for more detailed instructions.

  • What do I do if I decide I don't want to print the document
You have two options. First, you can just leave the document on the print management server and let it expire on its own after two hours. Or, you can go to the release station computer, place a checkmark next to the document you no longer wish to print, then click on the Delete button.

  • Need additional assistance? Please see a lab aid or a Librarian for assistance. You can also contact us by phone (847) 543-2071 or LiveChat on the Library Website.
