Roger's Autobiography
I have worked in oils and acrylics, and currently, in watercolors. I paint anything that interests me. I am pretty much a realistic painter but have made several recent ventures into abstract pieces.
Since retiring from teaching, I devote myself to painting and creating art on a full time basis now and I love it! Barn scenes, flowers, boats, and landscapes cover the bulk of my work. Currently I am creating a series of paintings entitled “Farmscapes” or “Tall Skies”. These works, as their titles suggest, emphasize the sky and clouds with barns or farms, lighthouses, golf courses, water scenes or other countryside subjects underneath. These skies are executed in an almost abstract manner. I have also done several murals in Antioch Schools as well as in businesses and private homes in the area. I keep my hand in teaching with instructing a variety of classes through the College of Lake County and the Antioch Fine Arts Foundation.
Illinois State University, BS, 1968; MS 1972, both in Art Education.
Taught art in Walnut and Antioch, IL, 1968-2004.
I am active in several art associations and have exhibited throughout the Chicago Northwest region, recently winning Award of Merit, Norris Gallery. My work is in the Abbott Corporation collection.
